Mark Chilton, Orthopaedic Surgeon and Randy Krebs, PT, ATC, CSCS Give Instructions on Safe Pitching for Young Baseball Players

On Saturday, February 9th Mid-Maryland Musculoskeletal Institute (MMI) staff members, Dr. Mark Chilton and Randy Krebs, PT, ATC, spoke to over 50 young pitchers at the Frederick Community College Cougar Baseball Pitching Clinic.
At the invitation of FCC Baseball Coach Rodney Bennett, Dr. Chilton, an orthopaedic surgeon, reviewed how the muscles and bones of youngsters are growing rapidly and may be vulnerable to improper pitching technique. In addition he shared his experience of treating pitcher’s injuries and how to avoid them. Dr. Chilton explains, “proper technique and conditioning is important to avoid injury.” Randy Krebs, both a physical therapist and certified athletic trainer, demonstrated proper body mechanics, the importance of warming up before pitching and his experience of successfully rehabilitating pitching injuries.
